Lactobacillus salivarius

Strain: Lactobacillus salivarius Concentration: 10⁸–10¹⁰ CFU Property: Lactobacillus salivarius (L. salivarius) is a microflora, bacteria commonly found in gastrointestinal tract and breast milk. Consuming 2 x 10¹⁰ CFU of L. salivarius daily helps balance the intestinal microbiota and regulate the immune system (Sierra, et al., 2010). Additionally, pregnant mothers who consume 10¹⁰ CFU of L. salivarius during the final trimester for a period of 3 months have been found to experience [reduced] inflammation in the breast tissue (mastitis) due to a decrease in breastfeeding, but with increased levels of L. salivarius in breast milk, which benefits the infant (Fernández, et al., 2016). Supplementation of the probiotic strains L. salivarius LS97, L. paracasei LC86, and L. acidophilus LA85 in combination with physical therapy can enhance oral immunity, reduce periodontal disease indicators, and reduce key pathogens (Fusobacterium, Porphyromonas) without disrupting the microbiome balance, making it a potential adjunctive approach in the management of chronic periodontal disease (Wang et al., 2024).
